VIDEO GAME TEACHES OLD FOLKS HOW TO WALK

ARLINGTON, Va. (Wireless Flash) -- A hospital in Virginia is turning old folks into real-life versions of the Super Mario Brothers. Elderly rehab patients at Arlington Hospital are being taught how to walk again using a video game-like device called the "Balance Master." Oldsters stand on a giant platform and are told to mimic the movements of a green animated man which appears on a computer screen in front of them. Another exercise on the Balance Master requires folks to trace the steps of a glowing orb that resembles one of those bouncing balls in a sing-a-long video. According to a hospital spokesman, although most of the patients are too old to have played video games first-hand, they find using the Balance Master is a blast.
