NEW STUDY EXPOSES PISTOL-PACKING GRANDPARENTS

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash) -- Grandma may not be the kindly, pie baking soul you think she is -- she could be packing heat. According to a new study conducted by the Medical University of North Carolina, 60 percent of elderly patients with dementia have access to guns. What's worse, 45 percent of the gun-slinging grandparents keep the guns loaded. Researchers are warning that these patients are often confused and physically aggressive, so throwing guns into the mix could lead to a potential "Showdown at the O.K. Convalescent Corral." Physicians caring for patients with dementia are being asked to urge families to remove all guns from the homes of the patients. The study appears in the upcoming "Journal of the American Geriatrics Society."
