ALLEN GINSBERG'S DEATH PANTS: $200 PRICE TAG

ALLEN GINSBERG'S DEATH PANTS: $200 PRICE TAG

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash) -- Now here's a piece of morbid memorabilia: a pair of jeans worn by Beat poet Allen Ginsberg just before his death will be auctioned off tomorrow (Oct. 7). The Levis come with a pair of suspenders that resemble a tape measure, and were hanging on a hook beside Ginsberg's deathbed when he passed away in 1997. Experts believe the jeans were the last clothes worn by the poet, and expect them to sell for as much as $200. The auction at Sotheby's in New York will also include Ginsberg's wallet, which is filled with the same stuff it contained on the day of his death: an ID card, several credit cards and two used packets of Sweet `n' Low. The wallet, along with a watch and a pair of glasses Ginsberg wore at the time of his death, are expected to fetch as much as $700 from collectors.
