WALK LIKE A MAN: ACTRESS SPENT 4 WEEKS AS MAN TO LAND ROLE

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash) -- Actors will do almost anything for a role these days -- even change their sex. That's basically what actress Hilary Swank had to do to land the role of a young woman who masquerades as a man in the upcoming film "Boys Don't Cry." The film's director gave Swank the role on the condition that she spend a month living as a boy before filming took place. The actress chopped her hair into a boyish cut, took voice lessons to deepen her voice and worked out with a personal trainer to get a more masculine, muscled shape. Swank says she was glad to "walk like a man" for so long because it helped her test out her manly moves and deeper voice. However, the actress admits that she spent so much time as a man that -- in her words -- "...sometimes I had trouble getting back to being Hilary." "Boys Don't Cry" opens in theaters this Friday (Oct. 22).
