PERSONAL ADS GETTING A LITTLE TOO PERSONAL

PITTSBURGH, Pa. (Wireless Flash) -- Can you get a little too personal in a personal ad? Yes, says personal ad historian Al Hoff, who has read and analyzed more than 75,000 personal ads. According to Hoff, author of the new book, "If You Like Pina Coladas: The Humor And Weirdness Of Personal Ads" (Andrews- McMeel), some folks put too much detail into their personal ads - - things that shouldn't be revealed until at least the second date. Some of the poor personal ads uncovered by Hoff include... -- A man who wrote that he was accused of murdering his ex- wife but he was "...never formally charged." -- A man who wrote that he wants a steady relationship "...lasting no more than a year." -- One woman claimed she was writing a personal ad because her cats told her to "get a life." -- And, finally, one woman has a very strict requirement for personal ad partners: "If it works out, you'll have to promise not to tell my friends we met that way."
