NEW HEALTH TREND: ENEMAS FOR YOUR NOSE

HONESDALE, Pa. (Wireless Flash) -- Well, blow me down -- it looks like the latest health trend is blowing water up your nose. The "nasal irrigation" procedure involves pouring salt water into your nostrils where it acts as a sort of nasal enema. Internist Dr. Carrie Demers of Honesdale, Pennsylvania, says nasal irrigation relieves congestion and can help prevent colds by washing away irritating germs, pollen and dust. The "enema for your nose" is a do-it-yourself procedure that's becoming more and more popular according to the Himalayan Institute, which makes a nasal irrigation tool called "The Neti Pot." Sales are booming for the device, which resembles a ceramic Aladdin's lamp with a narrow tip that's inserted into your nostrils. A spokesperson says the company is selling about 4000 Neti Pots a month these days -- up from only about 300 a few years ago.
