MOUNTAIN BIKING NO JOY FOR `FAMILY JEWELS'

MOUNTAIN BIKING NO JOY FOR `FAMILY JEWELS' (EMBARGOED UNTIL 9:30 A.M. CST, NOVEMBER 30)

CHICAGO (Wireless Flash) -- A new study reveals mountain biking can create a mountain of problems for a man's sex life. According to researchers in Innsbruck, Austria, bumpy mountain bikes can trigger painful tumors, infections and swelling in men's scrotums. Although previous research has suggested that bicycle seats can cause numbness and low sperm counts, Dr. Ferdinand Frauscher says the real culprit is bad shock absorbers, which tend to "jostle the johnson" and damage nerves and blood vessels. The researchers says male mountain bikers should make sure their bike has adequate shocks, wear padded shorts and a jock strap and take frequent rest stops off the seat. Dr. Frauscher will discuss his theories at the 85th Annual Meeting of the Radiological Society of America tomorrow in Chicago.
