CLINTON TO SERVE 6-MONTH-OLD FRUITCAKE

WASHINGTON (Wireless Flash) -- Bill Clinton has something in common with your dear old Aunt Martha -- they're both giving gifts of old fruitcake this Christmas. According to White House pastry chef Roland Mesnier (roh- LAHND mess-nee-YAY), the president and first lady will serve more than half a ton of fruitcake at holiday parties this year. But here's the kicker: The chef started baking the fruitcakes in June and has been storing them in the refrigerator ever since. Fruitcakes reportedly store well, and Mesnier claims the six-month-old cakes actually taste better with each month they spend in the fridge. So far, about 500 pounds of the fruitcake have been served at White House get-togethers -- with no leftovers.
