SPACE MESSAGES TO BE LAUNCHED BY LASER BEAM

ROSWELL, N.M. (Wireless Flash) -- If E.T. still needs to phone home, he might want to head over to Roswell, New Mexico, on New Year's Eve. Nearly a thousand space enthusiasts will gather in Roswell this Friday to send messages into space using a high power laser stored in an old nuclear missile silo. The messages will be digitized and flashed into space for possible reception by our "alien brothers." Some of the more interesting messages planned for transmission include personal pleas like "Hey aliens, git your hands off our wimmen," "Single white female seeks E.T. mate," and "Come here and pick me up." The so-called "Starlite" project is the brainchild of a former New York City advertising executive who says the laser messages will be re-sent constantly until the end of time.
