STONE TEMPLE PILOTS SINGER RANKS HIGH IN UNDER-35 `DEATH POOL'

DETROIT (Wireless Flash) -- Stone Temple Pilots lead singer Scott Weiland may not want to hear this, but a computer program has ranked him as the Gen X celebrity who is most likely to die before the end of the year. The finding comes from a Detroit health researcher who also is active in "death pools" -- those betting games in which people wager on which celebrities will kick the bucket during each year. The researcher -- who calls himself "Death Pool Dave" -- uses a sophisticated computer program that takes into account lifestyle factors to determine the longevity of a celebrity. Dave says the 32-year-old singer's on-again, off-again drug use makes him the most likely celeb under 35 to die in 2000 -- but it's still a long shot. Other under-35 celebs who could be knockin' on death's door this year include Sean "Puffy" Combs, former "90210" star Jason Priestly and Macaulay Culkin.
