ROBERT DOWNEY, JR. OFFERED $200 TO UNDERGO STERILIZATION

ANAHEIM, Calif. (Wireless Flash) -- An activist group is offering jailed actor Robert Downey, Jr. a chance to make a quick $200 -- but only if he's willing to have a vasectomy. The group making the offbeat offer -- Children Requiring A Caring Kommunity or CRACK for short -- actually pays cash to drug abusers who undergo medical sterilizations. The idea is to keep addicts from giving birth to booze and drug-addicted babies, and so far, 153 men and women have taken CRACK up on the offer. Most of the participants have been lower income folks and, as a result, the group's efforts have been criticized as being discriminatory. A spokeswoman for CRACK says if Downey accepts the $200 offer, it will demonstrate the group's willingness to sterilize all drug addicts -- not just the poor ones.
