THE WHOLE `TOOTH' ABOUT GEORGE WASHINGTON'S MOUTH

SAFFORD, Ariz. (Wireless Flash) -- Here's something to chew on this President's Day: George Washington never had wooden teeth. That's according to dental historian Eric Curtis, who says there's not a shred of truth to the old myth about Washington wearing false teeth made out of wood. Dr. Curtis says the famous Founding Father owned several pairs of false teeth made from walrus tusks, hippo's teeth and even his own fallen-out molars -- but the dentures fit so poorly, that Washington often drooled while wearing them. The drooling embarrassed him so much that he declined to make a speech at his second inauguration, and some historians believe it was bad teeth that kept Washington from running for a third presidential term.
