POSTAL PIRATE OFFERS WAYS TO `SAVE' ON POSTAGE

PORT TOWNSEND, Wa. (Wireless Flash) -- Is it possible to send a letter in the United States for as little as two cents? It is if you believe a self-proclaimed "postal pirate" who calls himself "Dr. Unzip." The "doctor" is the author of the new book, "How To Screw The Post Office" (Loompanics), and he claims there are all sorts of tricks and loopholes to send mail for just pennies. One trick that he claims works 99 percent of the time is to place a two-cent stamp on an envelope and than rubber-stamp the words "First Class Mail" right next to it as well as in the lower left hand corner. Dr. Unzip says it works because postal workers usually will look at the "First Class Mail" label and ignore the postage. He also suggests taping old canceled stamps to new letters, because most postal machines can't tell if the stamp has already been canceled.
