LETTERMAN SCHOLARSHIP SEEKS `AVERAGE YET CREATIVE' STUDENTS

SANTA ROSA, Calif. (Wireless Flash) -- This should make Dave Letterman's newly-mended heart go pitter pat: a scholarship fund created in his honor. The David Letterman Telecommunications Program is targeted at what's described as "average yet creative" students attending Letterman's alma mater, Ball State University in Indiana. It's just one of the more unusual scholarships available according to Dan Cassidy of the National Scholarship Research Service. Others include a $1000 scholarship for "unusually tall college- bound high school seniors" and a scholarship for "needy left-handed students." Cassidy is author of the new book "Dan Cassidy's Worldwide College Scholarship Directory" (Career Press).
