SPATS GAINING POPULARITY WITH TEENS

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash) -- Everything old is new again with teens -- especially spats. Believe it or not, those antiquated shoe coverings worn by 1920s- era gangsters are coming back into style again thanks to New York designer Lyn Tallarida. She makes spats in classic styles like the ones worn by Al Capone, but she also has versions made out of faux leopard fur and waterproof "high-tech" materials. Tallarida claims the spats are especially popular with teen boys who want to look dressy, but they're also being worn as an everyday look by celebrities including "Mambo No. 5" singer Lou Bega. The spats range in price from $50 to $150 and are sold at the Spatterdash.com website.
