INTERNET OVERUSERS MORE LIKELY TO BE MENTALLY ILL?

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (Wireless Flash) -- A new study suggests folks who spend excessive hours on the internet may be more prone to mental illness. Researchers at the University of Florida profiled 20 heavy internet users and found every one met the criteria for a type of mental illness known as "impulse control disorder." Nearly all of the net addicts in the survey also showed signs of manic depression or similar psychotic disorders. Study spokesman Dr. Nathan Shapira says more research needs to be done to figure out if the internet is causing the mental problems or if it just attracts folks with psychiatric disorders.
