STUPID LANGUAGE TRICKS

CHARLESTON, S.C. (Wireless Flash) -- The English language has inspired a new dialect: "Manglish." According to writer Jane O'Boyle -- author of the new book "Free Drinks For Ladies With Nuts" (Plume) -- "manglish" is what happens when people mangle the English language beyond comprehension. One example is a sign O'Boyle saw outside a Hong Kong dress shop that reads, "Ladies have fits upstairs." Then there's the sign at a Bangkok dry cleaner that reads "Drop your trousers here for best results." -- A doctor's office in Rome bears the slogan "Specialist in women and other diseases." -- And, finally, there's a costume shop in Hong Kong which has an ad that declares "For turning tricks on Halloween."
