`PAT THE BUNNY' TURNS 60

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (Wireless Flash) -- The first book made exclusively for babies turns 60 this year. "Pat The Bunny" was written in 1940 by Dorothy Kunhardt -- but publishers initially rejected it because each book required extra components including a mirror, a hollow ring and a furry bunny. The publishers finally agreed to take a risk and hired 80 women to assemble the first batch. The extra cost paid off because since then, "Pat The Bunny" has sold more than 6 million copies and acquired the nickname of "Pat The Cash Register." Kunhardt's granddaughter, Sandra Basile, discusses "Pat The Bunny" in the latest issue of "Parents" magazine.
