STUDY FINDS BODY ODOR SLOWS DOWN WORKOUTS

WHEELING, W. Va. (Wireless Flash) -- Here's some news that really stinks: inhaling foul odors while working out can actually make you more fatigued. That's according to a new study by the Olfactory Research Fund in which participants were exposed to different scents while running on treadmills. Researcher Dr. Bryan Raudenbush says the subjects felt more fatigued when they sniffed raunchy odors similar to that of a stinky locker room. Participants who inhaled peppermint scents found it easier to exercise and were less tired when finished. Raudenbush admits the findings are preliminary, but the study suggests athletes who want to enhance their performance may want to take whiff of peppermint oil just before the bell goes off.
