81-YEAR-OLD WOMAN WAS DISNEY'S FIRST STAR

MERIDIAN, Idaho (Wireless Flash) -- Think Mickey Mouse was Walt Disney's first star? Guess again. In reality, it was child actress Virginia Davis McGhee who, in 1923, starred in several of Disney's first films as a girl named Alice. McGhee -- who is now 81 and living in Meridian, Idaho -- appeared in 13 short films and says she loved working with Disney because he was "a child at heart." When McGhee hit the ripe old age of 5, she retired as "Alice" but continued doing voiceovers for "Pinocchio" and, later, in the ink and paint department. This Saturday (Apr. 29), McGhee will be a featured guest at the El Capitan Theater in Los Angeles, which will be showing her 1924 short, "Alice's Wild West Show."
