AL MARTINO LATEST LOUNGE SINGER TO MAKE COMEBACK

PHILADELPHIA (Wireless Flash) -- Not much has been heard from singer Al Martino since he played "Johnny Fontane" in 1972's "The Godfather," but he's attempting a comeback with Gen X'ers. Martino -- who's best known for the 1965 hit, "Spanish Eyes" -- has just released his first album in 15 years, a swing album titled -- what else? -- "Swing." The 72-year-old singer temporarily retired in 1985 when he realized radio wasn't playing ballad singers anymore. However, the recent swing revival gave him the courage to attempt a comeback with modern-day lounge lizards. Martino will debut his new CD at the Los Angeles House of Blues next Tuesday and says he's looking forward to "...giving these kids a lesson in singing."
