WILL ELIAN REENACTMENTS TRAUMATIZE TV MOVIE STAR?

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash) -- A proposed TV movie about the life of Elian Gonzales has a former child actor up in arms. Producers are still searching for a six-year-old boy to play the Cuban refugee in "Elian: The True Story of Elian Gonzalez." But Paul Petersen, who played Jeff Stone on "The Donna Reed Show," is concerned the boy actor may be traumatized by reenacting Elian's rescue at sea or the raid on his Miami relatives' home. In the past, Peterson says unscrupulous film makers used horrific methods to get kids to cry on camera -- including bending their fingers backward, pricking their feet with pins or telling them their dog just died. Petersen is strongly advising producers of the Elian story to have a child psychologist on hand to prevent any psychological damage.
