BLIND PARACHUTERS TAKE FLIGHT

LONGMONT, Colo. (Wireless Flash) -- It's a bird. It's a plane. It's a blind parachuter. That's the phrase residents of Longmont, Colorado, may be uttering this Sunday, when a group of 25 blind parachuters will drop from the sky. Students from the Colorado Center for the Blind will be making the nearly 13000 foot drop to prove that sightless people can do almost anything with proper training. Instructor Jeff Sands of the Mile-Hi Skydiving school says the blind parachuters will be cued when to pull their rip cords since they have no way of seeing how close they are to the ground. He believes the blind skydiving students will have a fair amount of anxiety about jumping from the plane, even though they can't see how high they are.
