FOOD-FLINGING PRISONERS PUNISHED WITH PRISON LOAF

ANGOLA, Louisiana (Wireless Flash) -- Outbreaks of food fighting at a Louisiana prison are being curtailed thanks to something called "prison loaf." According to officials at Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola, "prison loaf" is a meal made from ground-up leftovers and shaped into a loaf. Prisoners who fling food at mealtimes are forced to eat the revolting mess -- which is said to resemble dog food. It may sound like cruel and unusual punishment, but executive staff officer Kathy Jett insists prison loaf is healthy since it's made from nutritious foods like spaghetti, salad, meat sauce and bread. However, she admits the mushy loaves do their job because food flinging is now at a standstill.
