REAL SPIES AREN'T HUNKS LIKE TOM CRUISE

JUPITER, Fla. (Wireless Flash) -- Tom Cruise may play a secret agent in "Mission: Impossible 2," but he wouldn't cut the mustard in real life. According to espionage expert Keith Melton, buffed-up pretty boys like Cruise would attract too much attention to do a proper job as a spy. That's not the only gaff in the latest "Mission: Impossible" where spies are seen shooting rounds of ammo at each other. In real life, Melton says spies avoid using guns at all costs because they don't want to kill off potential sources -- but they do attend cocktail parties to pump sources with booze. Some aspects of "Mission: Impossible 2" actually have a basis in reality -- such as spies impersonating other people. Melton says the CIA has special makeup artists that can change the appearance of anyone -- they just can't make someone shorter or thinner than they really are.
