PAT BOONE WRITES LYRICS TO `CHARIOTS OF FIRE'

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash) -- The melody, "Chariots Of Fire," may be 18 years old but it finally has lyrics thanks to, of all people, Pat Boone. The 66-year-old singer has completed writing lyrics for the Oscar-winning instrumental and will debut them Wednesday night (June 7) with the California Junior Philharmonic. Part of the lyrics go like this: "We search for a meaning/ We strive for a goal/ We drink from life's fountain/ To fill up our soul." This isn't the first time Boone has written lyrics for a motion picture theme. In 1960, he created lyrics to go with "The Theme From Exodus." The bizarre "Chariots Of Fire" rendition appears on Boone's new CD, "In A Symphonic Mood," which will be released tomorrow.
