LEAKY BLADDERS INCREASE RISK OF FRACTURES

BALTIMORE, Md. (Wireless Flash) -- A new study shows older women with leaky bladders are more likely to fall or fracture their bones by rushing to the bathroom when nature calls. The study -- conducted by the University of California at San Francisco -- followed 6000 older women and found those with incontinence were 26 percent more likely to fall and 34 percent more likely to fracture a bone. The researchers believe treating incontinence early in life may be the key to cutting down on falling problems caused by leaky bladders. The study appears in the upcoming "Journal of the American Geriatrics Society."
