LOU RAWLS WORKING ON STAGE MUSICAL OF `ME AND MRS. JONES'

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash) -- Singer Lou Rawls is set for a new stage in his career -- the Broadway stage. Rawls is currently producing a stage musical titled "Me And Mrs. Jones" based on Billy Paul's 1972 hit. The musical will feature 1970s soul songs made famous by acts including the O'Jays, The Spinners and the Three Degrees. Rawls will play a guy who meets Mrs. Jones at a bar every afternoon for some adulterous fun while members of the O'Jays will portray "Back Stabbers" who try to split up the couple. Patti LaBelle and Gladys Knight have also signed on for the soul musical, which will begin rehearsing in the next few weeks. Rawls says he's confident the play will be a success because, as he puts it, "Everybody knows these songs and they're not that rap crap."
