RUB-A-DUB RACES

WHITEHORSE, Canada (Wireless Flash) -- Leave it to the folks in the Yukon to make bath time more action packed. This Saturday (Aug. 19) marks the beginning of the Ninth Annual Gold Rush Bathtub Race, where more than a dozen contestants will soup up bathtubs with gas powered motors and race 486 miles from Whitehorse to Dawson. The bathtub regatta's top prize is $2500 and only one tubthumper is allowed per boat. The rules also specify no more than a 10-horsepower motor and the tubs must weigh less than 350 pounds. A spokesman says although some contestants take the bathtub race seriously, nearly everyone will stop half way during the race to suck down some beer and run around in flannel pajamas.
