JIMI HENDRIX SHIRT FATALLY FADED

LA JOLLA, Calif. (Wireless Flash) -- Jimi Hendrix's artistic legacy may never fade but a priceless shirt he once wore has. A red, white and blue gauze shirt once worn by the rocker is now faded beyond repair due to years of display by the Hard Rock Cafe. Hendrix gave the shirt to Melinda Merryweather of San Diego 30 years ago after she beat him in a ping-pong match. She cherished the shirt, but lent it to the Hard Rock Cafe in La Jolla who insured it for $50 grand. Merryweather says she assumed curators would take care of the shirt, but it was returned faded beyond repair and sports ugly drill holes. Hard Rock Cafe officials say they have no comment, but Merryweather is optimistic they'll resolve the problem -- even though Hendrix's shirt is now so fragile, it could disintegrate at any second.
