CHEERLEADING COACHES NOT CHEERED BY `BRING IT ON'

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (Wireless Flash) -- The cheerleading chick flick, "Bring It On," isn't raising much cheer among cheerleading experts. Jim Lord, executive director of the American Association for Cheerleading Coaches and Advisors, admits he has mixed feelings about "Bring It On." He says the movie may promote the athleticism of cheerleaders, but it also reinforces many untrue stereotypes, including that all male cheerleaders are gay. In addition, Lord says some routines in the film are better suited for a strip bar than a cheerleading competition. He says he's willing to let some things slide for artistic license but says many of the stunts and tosses seen in the movie are dangerous and forbidden in real-life cheer contests.
