CHESS PLAYERS TO BE SCREENED FOR DRUGS?

NEW WINDSOR, N.Y. (Wireless Flash) -- White House drug czar Barry McCaffrey says he wants to conduct drug tests of all Americans participating in major chess tournaments. McCaffrey tells "Chess Life" magazine that drug testing is crucial and claims the Spanish Chess Federation already requires drug tests for its chess players. Some chess enthusiasts claim the idea is unnecessary because any drug use hinders the ability for checkmate. Although "Chess Life" editors have no comment on McCaffrey's proposal, they admit the few reader letters they've received so far have been against mandatory drug testing.
