RETAIL CHAINS WELCOME LAID-OFF DOT COM WORKERS

CHICAGO (Wireless Flash) -- Here's a sign the dot com doldrums may be settling in: there's a rise in the number of laid-off internet company workers. That's according to business trend expert John Challenger, who estimates nearly 17,000 "dot com-ers" have lost their jobs so far this year and many are still looking for work. Although more experienced dot com workers are likely to find another job right away, Challenger says others are ripe for the picking for retail chains -- especially electronics stores who need technically-savvy salespeople.
