WORLD'S FIRST TUGBOAT HULA CONTEST

WORLD'S FIRST TUGBOAT HULA CONTEST

HONOLULU (Wireless Flash) -- Like hula dancing? Well, this should float your boat: A tugboat hula contest. This Saturday (Nov. 11), the city of Honolulu will host the world's first "tugboat hula" contest where the ships will swish and sway to hula music. Tugboat hula instructor Phyllis Griep says two tugboats will be participating in the boating boogie contest: One dressed in a 208-foot-long plastic grass skirt with coconut bra and the other in a manly sarong. The two tugboats will "hula" to specially recorded music by maneuvering the boats left to right, and professional hula experts will rate the boats on their ability to rock from side-to-side and spin around in circles.
