WARNING: LOUD TOYS CAN GIVE THE GIFT OF DEAFNESS

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash) -- Beware which toys you buy for your kids this holiday because they could fall on deaf ears. The Noise Center for the League of Hard of Hearing is warning that many toys emit ear-busting sounds that are louder than power tools. Researchers say one toy, a megaphone known as the "Mighty Megamouth," generates up to 140 decibels -- louder than a jackhammer. Walkie-talkies, fire trucks and even some talking stuffed animals can have equally deafening noise levels. A spokeswoman claims the noisy emissions don't really make the toys any more fun, so you're better off avoiding them in the long run.
