`MAKING THE BAND' REJECTS MAKE THEIR OWN BAND

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash) -- Some of the singers who were rejected from ABC's "Making The Band" are making their own band. The three semi-finalists have added another singer and formed a new band called LMNT (pronounced "Element"). Bryan Chan, Ikaika Kahoano and Mike Miller say they formed the new group to control their "own destinies" and their music includes gospel touches and Hawaiian harmonies not usually associated with boy band pop. Although the band will write its own songs, they asked fans of Teen People Online to come up with the name of the band. Although the winning entry was "LMNT," Chan says it was chosen only because it was more tasteful than the runner-up: "Erotica Boys." The group plans to release a debut single sometime in the early part of 2001.
