CELEBRITY MEDICAL CARE NOT SO STELLAR

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (Wireless Flash) -- Celebrities may get all sorts of perks -- but special medical attention isn't one of them. That's according to former surgeon Dr. Brad Lewis, who says the dirty truth of the medical world is that many doctors who cater to the rich and famous read the gossip pages more than medical journals. Lewis claims many celebrity doctors often spend more time on the phone with their publicists than with patients and some celeb docs are so intimidated by the rich and famous they let the patients dictate the medical care. However, he says the worst part about being a celebrity doctor is the high cost of working in cities like New York and Beverly Hills, which forces many celeb docs to make extra cash by performing unnecessary surgery on their high-profile clients. Lewis is the author of a new medical thriller, "Dysplasia" (AuthorsChoice Press).
