BOB VILA: ZERO GRAVITY SCREWING NOT AS EASY AS IT SOUNDS

BOB VILA: ZERO GRAVITY SCREWING NOT AS EASY AS IT SOUNDS

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash) -- Think making repairs around your house is tough? Try using a power drill in outer space. Home fix-it guru Bob Vila claims using cordless power tools while orbiting the earth can really screw with your body. Astronauts currently working on the International Space Station have told Vila that if they don't anchor their feet before turning on the drills, they spin around more than the screws. But the cosmic construction workers have it easier than Earthlings in some respects. Vila says new technologies allow the Space Station to detect and diagnose a problem before it actually happens -- and the astronauts don't have to put up wallpaper. Vila's interview with the Space Station astronauts will air tomorrow (Dec. 14) on the CBS "Early Show."
