CALIFORNIA EMPLOYEES: `WATTS UP!'

SAN MATEO, Calif. (Wireless Flash) -- Some California employees are so charged up over getting some time off from work that they're burning up electricity at the office. Case in point: The employees at an investment firm in Silicon Valley are so desperate for a day off, they're trying to use up as much energy as fast as possible in hopes of causing a blackout. An inside source at the company confesses the selfishness surge began earlier this winter when electric supplies began running low and company bigwigs sent memos requesting employees conserve energy. However, instead of inspiring conservation, some employees are trying to maximize their energy usage by bringing hairdryers from homes, setting up Halloween lights around desks and running the microwave oven non-stop. So far, the bright idea hasn't worked. No blackout has been declared.
