MUSLIMS TO AVOID CARS CONTAINING PORK PARTS

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (Wireless Flash) -- General Motors decision to use pork-derived substances in their manufacturing plants is causing a flap with Muslims. The automobile giant plans on using a substance derived from pork byproducts to form the molds used to make car parts -- but it's turning into a big issue for folks who avoid pork. Independent researcher and pork protester Sharazad Ali says Muslims avoid anything even remotely related to the pig, so there's no way anyone who practices Islam could purchase a GM car made with the pork parts. She says that could spell big trouble for GM's bottom line because Islam is one of the fastest-growing religions in America. As for Ali, she currently drives an older, GM-made Cadillac that's free of pork but says she won't be buying another. Ali is the author of How Not To Eat Pork (Civilized Publications).
