DOC AND ROLL MUSIC

SAN DIEGO (Wireless Flash) – A lot of rock bands are accused of using drugs but one San Diego group is actually able to prescribe them. The band – which calls itself “Bone” – includes an orthopedic surgeon on lead guitar and an E.R. doctor on drums. Bone started playing “Doc And Roll” four years ago and writes original tunes based on the day-to-day problems of doctors – including one ditty titled “Gold Digger,” which tells about ladies looking to marry rich doctors. Lead singer Trent Northcutt – who sells medical supplies – admits the band members’ day jobs prevent them from suffering the financial burdens other unknown bands face – but the group suffers for its art in other ways. He says practices and gigs are often interrupted because the musicians are needed in surgery.
