TEACH YOUR DOG TO PAINT

ST. HELEN, Mich. (Wireless Flash) – It’s hard enough to teach a dog to sit on command – but a Michigan dog trainer is teaching dogs to paint. Lonnie Olson runs the Dog Scouts of America, a sort-of canine version of Boy Scouts, and one of the “merit badges” offered to dogs is in painting. To encourage the budding “Paw-cassos,” Olson first trains the dogs to wave their paws in the air. Then a special bootie which holds a paint brush is placed on the paw, and the dog strokes an easel to create its canine masterpiece. Olson admits teaching a dog to paint takes time, but the end results can be striking.
