BRIT MOUNTS EFFORT TO CHANJ THE WAY WE SPEL
OXFORD, U.K. (Wireless Flash) A British man is mounting an international effort to change the way words are spelled in English. Former BBC producer Richard Wade claims illogical English spelling is one reason many English speakers cant read. To liberate the masses, hes started something called the freespeling movement, which encourages people to spell words like they sound. Under Wades plan, the ph in the word photograph becomes an f, the word letter is spelled with only one t and the ge at the end of the word change becomes just a j. Wade says he thinks the new system could work wonders for literacy as well as ease the burden on folks who write closed captions on TV shows. In fact, he thinks captions would be a great place to start exposing the public to the freespeling effort.
