EARTHQUAKE ART SHAKING UP BUSINESS

PORT TOWNSEND, Wash. (Wireless Flash) – A businessman in Washington state is shaking up the art community with something called “Earthquake Art.” Entrepreneur Norman MacLeod has just started selling art prints and note cards that feature a sand pattern created by tremors of last February’s powerful Seattle earthquake. The rose-shaped design appearing on the items was formed during the quake by a novelty store gadget that uses a pendulum suspended on a wire to draw images on a tray of sand. MacLeod says demand for his earthquake art is spreading, with art lovers from all over the world requesting pictures of the unusual sand pattern. He’s even started a website to peddle the photographs – EarthquakeRose.com.
