WHO WILL WIN OLYMPICS OF HANDWASHING?

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Wireless Flash) – Most folks don’t think twice about giving their hands a good rinse – but it’s serious business for people participating in the annual “Handwashing Olympics.” The event will take place later today in Washington, D.C., where food safety experts are gathering for the Food Safety Summit and Expo. A spokeswoman says anywhere from 75 to 100 handwashing pros are expected to suds up using their preferred combinations of soap, water, nail brushes and antibacterial gels. Judges will coat the competitors hands with a fluorescent goo which shows any remaining germs after the washing, and the person with the most germ-free hands will be named the “Gold Medalist of Hand Hygiene.” The contest is sponsored by Kimberly-Clark which, of course, makes a lot of paper towels.
