LOOKING FOR LOOS: TOILET MAPPING

HOUSTON (Wireless Flash) – You’ve heard of living hand to mouth – but what about toilet to toilet? Researchers say many people with overactive bladders refuse to leave their homes unless they know the exact location of every toilet along their travel route. According to Dr. Rodney Appell, a professor of urology at Houston’s Baylor College of Medicine, the phenomenon is called “toilet mapping” and the practice limits the quality of life for folks with incontinence. Some sufferers can only shop at certain stores because they know the exact location of every bathroom, while other “toilet mappers” drive the same route to work every morning so they can pop in at the same toilets each day to avoid “accidents.” Dr. Appell says folks with overactive bladders can improve their condition through medications, exercise or surgery.
