A CHARLES BRONSON FOR CANINES

FAR HILLS, N.J. (Wireless Flash) – Saving dogs from abusive owners is “ruff” work – especially for a Michigan woman who calls herself the “Pet Vigilante.” Once a mild-mannered accountant, Rose Block now prowls the streets vigilante-style, rescuing abused mutts and mending their wounds. So far during her career, Block has been shot at, muscled by illegal dogfight organizers and forced to creep through dangerous alleys armed only with a sack of dog food. She’s written a book about her exploits – Canine Caper: Real- Life Tales of a Female Pet Vigilante (New Horizon Press) – and because of the dangers Block faces, she uses an assumed name and won’t reveal the names of the pets she’s rescued. Even the picture on the book’s dust jacket is a digitized image showing Rose disguised in dark glasses.
