TAIWANESE CANDIES POSING CHOKING HAZARD?

SAN MATEO, Calif. (Wireless Flash) – Some San Francisco lawyers are gunning for a Taiwanese candy company that makes a bullet-shaped sweet. The attorneys want to ban a hard gelatin candy known as “Lychee Flavor Bite Size Mini-Snacks” because of possible choking risks. Attorney Niall Yamane says the hard gelatin texture of the candy is dangerous, and caused a girl in San Jose, California, to nearly choke to death two years ago. The candy’s small shape and texture made it impossible for the girl’s parents to dislodge it using the Heimlich maneuver, and the girl is now in a permanent vegetative state. The family is now suing the Taiwanese candy manufacturer to force it to stop making the candy.
