SHRINKS BETTING NEW PILL REDUCES GAMBLING

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (Wireless Flash) – Researchers in Providence, Rhode Island, may have hit the jackpot: a drug that may reduce compulsive gambling. Doctors at Rhode Island Hospital say research suggests an anti-depressant known as “Celexa” reduces the gambling urge even in pathological pony players. 87 percent of study subjects who took a gamble on the drug considered their gambling problem “much improved” and spent 13 times less money on bets after just two weeks on the drug. The studies are only preliminary, but the doctors are betting the drug will be able to help compulsive gamblers long into the future.
