OUTMODED TYPEWRITERS FIND NEW USES IN ART EXHIBIT

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash) – The computer age has rendered typewriters useless for most folks, but some artists in New York hope to change all that. Artists from the School of Visual Arts have taken dozens of useless old typewriters and turned them into an art exhibit that will make its debut at Grand Central station next week. Titled “The Next Best...Ding,” the exhibit features typewriters transformed into everything from a working table hockey game to a pay phone. There’s even a typewriter tiki god statue from the island of “Whack- A-Key.” If you’re wondering where the artists found their antique typewriter stash, a spokesperson says they were scavenged from a Long Island repair shop that was going out of business.
